The Missouri Tigers (10-21, 4-16) wrapped up the 1999 season last weekend with a 3-1 loss to Texas Tech (18-15, 7-13) in Lubbock, Texas. The match was the first four-game conference match for Missouri this year. In the non-conference, Missouri was 3-3 in four-game matches.
After a meltdown in the first game, head coach Disa Johnson put in a new lineup that ignited a spark in the Tigers. Missouri came back from a 3-15 first game to win the first serve of the second game and was up 3-0 before Texas Tech scored its first point. The Tigers ended the game hitting .318 to the Red Raiders .180 and knocked down five total blocks to Tech's two.
Sophomore Naaron Branson led the Tigers with her eighth double-double of the season (10 kills, 18 digs). She also recorded three block assists. Freshman Christi Myers was nearly perfect offensively, committing only two errors in the final game. Through the first three games, she was 11-for-15, a match-leading .733 hitting percentage. By the end of the match, she had 12 kills, a .476 clip, and five total blocks (2 SB, 3 BA).
Freshman Ann Romjue and junior Colleen Smith paved the way for the Red Raiders, each recording a double-double. Romjue had 12 kills and 10 digs while Smith had 15 kills and 10 digs. Freshman Melissa McGehee and senior Lori Garber also tallied double-figures in kills.
