The Missouri Tigers (10-20, 4-15) are one match away from the completion of the 1999 season. Wednesday night at the Hearnes Center, the Tigers fell to the 11th-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers in three games, 9-15, 3-15, 8-15. Missouri finishes the season 1-11 against ranked opponents.
Missouri showed brilliance at times, but could not overcome Nebraska's offensive attack. MU kept the third game close, tying the game at seven and then again at eight points. Unfortunately eight was all that Missouri could muster as Nebraska went on a seven point run.
Overall, the Tigers hit .125 to the Cornhuskers .370. Sophomore Naaron Branson led Missouri with 15 kills and two solo blocks. Juniors Heather Gerber and Jen Gerlach each hit .500 through two and one games respectively. Junior Nancy Meendering paved the way for Nebraska with 18 kills, a .607 hitting percentage, and four block assists.
The Tigers travel to Lubbock, Texas, following the Thanksgiving holiday to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders. First serve is set for 7:00 PM Saturday.
