Slaughter Named SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri sophomore guard Grace Slaughter has been named Southeastern Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Slaughter leads Missouri with 15.5 points per game this season including 16.2 per game in league play.
In the classroom, the sophomore has earned a cumulative 4.0 GPA during her collegiate career including a 4.0 GPA this past academic year while pursuing a degree in health science.
Slaughter was a member of the 2023-24 SEC Honor Roll and has appeared on the University of Missouri Dean's List on three occasions, fall 2023, spring 2024 and fall 2024.
The Grain Valley, Missouri native is currently rewriting the program's sophomore class records as she ranks in the top 10 in six different statistical categories.
Slaughter is fourth in the country in 3-point percentage (46.6) among athletes who average 1.5+ makes per game this season.
The sophomore ranks fourth in the conference in free throw percentage at 86.5%.
This season on Jan. 27, the second-year guard scored a career-best 31 points and lifted the Tigers past Mississippi State on a buzzer-beater.
A Missouri athlete has now earned the accolade in consecutive seasons after former Tigers' point guard Mama Dembele was awarded the honor a season ago.
Slaughter and Dembele are the only two athletes in program history to be named the league's scholar-athlete of the year.
Slaughter and the Tigers will face the Bulldogs in the opening round of the SEC tournament at 5 p.m. on Wednesday in Greenville, S.C.
